Tim is an experienced and well respected rail industry expert. Tim is the independent member on Metro Trains Melbourne Board Safety Committee and an independent director of the Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board (RISSB).  RISSB is responsible for the development and management of rail industry standards, rules,  Between 2005 and 2016 Tim held a number of senior executive roles in, safety, environment and commercial roles at Asciano. the parent company of Pacific National and Patrick Stevedores.  As head of Safety for Asciano Tim designed and implemented Asciano’s initial safety governance framework and delivered material reductions in injuries and incidents.

Prior to Asciano, Tim held senior positions in the telecommunications sector as, BigPond Group Regulatory Manager at Telstra, as Vice President Public Policy Europe for Cable & Wireless, and Market Analyst at Oftel, the UK telecommunications regulator. He has also held roles in economic consulting firms NECG in Australia and NERA in the UK.

Tim holds a PhD in Economics from University College London, a Masters in Economics from Carleton University, Canada and a BA Economics from the University of Sheffield, UK.  Tim also holds a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in the UK and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors
